There are two things you can’t miss about this bird – 1) The contrast of colours (in a male)- Blue head and throat, orange breast and white belly 2) It’s call (attached in the link below).
However the female looks very different – Brown head, orange breast and white belly.

Blue-throated Blue Flycatcher has a wide distribution, all through the Himalayas to Western Ghats where it appears in the colder months.
It is a small bird (~14 cms) found mainly in thick forest areas and foliage, making it difficult to photograph. I first photographed this bird in Dandeli (situated in the northern part of Karnataka), then on I have been lucky to spot, observe and make images of this little beauty time and again.
Both the featured images were made at Tattekad, a birders paradise down south of Western ghats in the State of Kerala.
