‘Ghatiana Splendida’ also locally known as the purple tree crab or the pink forest crab is a fresh water crab found in the Western Ghats of India.
Named after it’s splendid looks – pink coloured shell and pincers, and orange legs, it was apparently discovered as recently as the year 2016..!
I was lucky to photograph this during my recent visit to Amboli, Maharashtra in August 2017. I couldn’t source much information about this colorful beauty, hence leaving you with just the image to imagine
